Colorado

Colorado has a remarkable geography. The western half of the state has some of the country's most spectacular mountain peaks, which welcome a multitude of skiers, climbers and hikers each year. One the most popular attractions in this part of the state is Rocky Mountain National Park, which thrills its visitors with an abundance of soaring peaks, hiking trails and glacial pools.

Not surprisingly, winter sports are an important part of the Colorado's experience. The towns of Aspen and Vail are popular ski resorts, famous both for the quality of their slopes and the glamour of their skiers. For those seeking adventure beyond the ski slopes, the Colorado National Monument and Black Canyon parks provide excellent hiking and sightseeing opportunities.

Travelers seeking a break from all this outdoor excitement head to Colorado's largest city, Denver. In recent years, the state capital has become a compelling destination in itself, combining an adventurous, outdoors spirit with a sophisticated cultural scene and a diverse young population. The other large Colorado city is Boulder, a university town (the University of Colorado is located here) that has become a center for alternative philosophy and spiritual practice.
