Las Vegas Travel Info

Getting There

Las Vegas draws nearly three million visitors each month, so the transportation network is pretty well developed. The I-15 highway runs straight to Los Angeles, if you're interested in a 5 hour drive. Greyhound buses arrive at 220 S. Main Street downtown, and many private bus companies run 'gambler's specials' between major cities in the west and Las Vegas. McCarran International Airport is close to town, and shuttle buses can get you to 'the Strip' for a few dollars.

Around Town

The casinos along 'the Strip' are relatively close to each other, so walking is a good option. If you need to get from one end of town to the other in a hurry, Citizens Area Transit operates buses around town.

Where to Stay

Las Vegas International Hotel, 1208 Las Vegas Blvd. S. (702-385-9955)
Follow the flashing blue arrows if you need to crash or just to duck out of the sun. 6-person dorm rooms go for $12; singles $28. Rates are lower in the winter.

Econo Lodge, 1150 Las Vegas Blvd. S. (702-382-6001)
A good place to recover from your hangover, or a safe haven to count your winnings from the night before. Costs about $35 midweek, and a little more expensive on weekends.

Ogden House,651 Ogden Ave, downtown. (702-385-5200)
A plain and simple spot to rest your head, but don't expect too many extras. The flat charge of $20 will make your wallet happy though.

Gaughan's Plaza Hotel & Casino, 1 Main St. (702-386-2110)
You can drop off your bags right after you get off the bus--it's on top of the station itself! Expect to be set back $35 midweek and $55 on weekends.

The Gun Store (702-454-1110)

Need to find something appropriate to do with your family? Look no further! Circus Circus is everything you've dreamed of - flying trapeze artists and fire-eaters abound, and an indoor water park will help keep you cool.

The Stratosphere Tower
At 1149 feet, this structure is the tallest building west of the Mississippi.
